Glenn Murray Smith - Teenage Photos

I'm continuing to share photos of my maternal grandfather, Glenn Murray Smith. These images were taken during his teenage years. They reflect the end of his high school years, the beginning of his college education, and the start of his relationship with my grandmother.

Glenn with his sister Virginia during their teenage years. They had access to their parents' car, and used it often to drive to parties and events all over Los Angeles.

Glenn really wanted to play football in high school, but was too small to make the team. He served as a team assistant, and can be seen here in the top row, third from left.

Glenn began dating his future wife, LaVerne Rutherfurd, when he was 17 and a senior in high school in Los Angeles. At left, Glenn and LaVerne attend an air show in 1936. At right, they are dressed for horseback riding.

At Stanford University, Glenn played club badminton. Here he is with the club, in the top row, second from the right.
